Vegas casinos are well known for handing out free alcoholic beverages to players. But Sin City is about to get more technologically advanced with their slots free drinks system.
Machines — not cocktail waitresses — will be monitoring slots players. The machines will determine when somebody has contributed enough to receive a drink.
People have even scored free drinks if they were watching someone else play or if they were just standing around in the Casino. Historically, the trick has been to tip well, at least for the first round. It sounds simple but if you sat at the 25 cent slot machines and you tipped the waitress $2, she'd return to offer you another drink.

How do Slots Free Drinks Machines Work?
The slot machines that determine free drink comps feature a strip of LED lights.
A red light means that a player hasn’t yet earned a drink. A green light means that they’ve bet enough to receive a beverage.
Once the cocktail waitress sees that a player has a green light, they’ll bring a drink over.
Players may worry that it’ll be too hard to receive free drinks through this system. But Albert Tabola, CEO of Ardent Progressive Systems and Games, which created this technology, assures that it won’t.
“The qualification levels on there are very, very low so this should not affect anybody that plays for the most part, at all,” Tabola said.

“Ideally, the only person that will be grumbling about this will be the person that wants to get that free drink. Before they go into a show by just sitting down at the machine and maybe playing a penny or wherever they can get away with.”
Free Drinks System Currently in a Trial Phase
According to ABC 15, the new comps system is currently in a trial run at Laughlin casinos.

“The hope now is, the trial down in Laughlin will be successful and then we’ve got several properties that are waiting to see the results,” said Tabola. “[They’ll] possibly implement it in the near future up here in Las Vegas,”
